SPAK, which attacks 99-chat and Mero Baze, receives maximum rating

The European Commission has published the "Rule of Law 2026" Report, assessing Albania's progress in strengthening the rule of law and consolidating justice reform, within the framework of the European integration process.

According to the report, the completion of the transitional re-evaluation (vetting) process constitutes an important step in strengthening the independence, integrity and accountability of the judicial system.

The report also highlights positive results in the fight against corruption, praising the work of SPAK in prosecuting and adjudicating high-level corruption cases.

According to the report, the Special Anti-Corruption Structure has made continued progress in investigating high-level corruption cases.

"In Albania, the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) has continued to deliver positive results in the fight against high-level corruption and in building a sustainable track record of investigations, prosecutions and convictions," the report states.

This report is a slap in the face to the group of 99 followers of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is facing 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, and Mero Bazen, who since the mayor's arrest have attacked justice with their speeches from the Durrës prison cell.

The European Commission's report clearly shows the highest appreciation for the work of SPAK and for the crackdown on high-level corruption, emphasizing once again the support for the institution of the Special Prosecution Office.

Today, the media paid by Veliaj have published this report, even though they have been continuously attacking SPAK for a long time. In their writings, they highlight the assessment given by the European Commission for the Special Structure against Corruption and the results achieved by SPAK in the fight against high-level corruption./ CNA
