"Sterilization" file/ GJKKO postpones the hearing against Beqaj until

The court hearing against former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, for the "Sterilization" file has been postponed to September 11. The reason for the postponement of the hearing was the former minister's defense, which requested time to review the materials presented by the Prosecution.

In today's session, which was also held with debates, SPAK requested the dismissal of 23 requests submitted by Beqaj, in the court process for the "Sterilization" file.

Special Prosecutor Edvin Kondili stated that Beqaj's requests, through which the charges and procedural actions are contested, are unfounded in law and should be dismissed. According to SPAK, in most cases the defendant's claims have been answered during the investigation phase, in the preliminary hearing and in the court decision.

Regarding the request for the invalidity of the act of notification of the accusation, SPAK argued that it is not based on the law.

"The actions were approved by the preliminary judge with the decision to accept the request for trial," emphasized Prosecutor Kondili.

Regarding Beqaj's claim that the theft charge is not proven, the prosecution noted that the defendant does not present concrete requests, but raises questions that have been clarified and will be addressed in the parties' final conclusions.

SPAK also opposed the request to exclude electronic data seized from a computer, arguing that they were obtained through procedural actions in full compliance with the law.

Another point of contention was the claim of the lack of the original procurement contract. The prosecution explained that the failure to find the original contract at the Ministry of Health constitutes an administrative violation, but this does not invalidate the evidence administered in the process, as a unified copy was administered at the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund.

Former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, is accused of abuse of office within the framework of a structured criminal group, and is being tried separately from the other defendants. /CNA
