Protesters do not forget Veliaj: It is his turn to go to prison, he should not

The protesters delivering their speeches in front of the Prime Minister's Office seem not to have forgotten the case of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

On the 47th day of the protest, one of the citizens said that it was Veliaj's turn to serve his prison sentence, following the sensational arrests of him and the directors of the capital's municipality.

The protester called on institutions not to back down from pressure to release Veliaj.

"After the directors of the municipality were arrested, it was the mayor's turn. SPAK should not back down from the pressures to release him," said the protester. 

We recall that Erion Veliaj has been in Durrës prison cells since his arrest on February 10 last year, while he faces 13 charges, including 9 cases of corruption, money laundering, concealment of assets and bringing or keeping illegal items in the cell. /CNA
