SP proposes draft law on Tourism: Construction to be suspended during the season

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, proposed a draft law on Tourism in today's parliamentary session, which requires the suspension of construction during the tourist season, arguing that noise and construction activities are damaging the quality of holidays and the image of Albania as a tourist destination.

Supporting the changes to the tourism law in the Assembly, Balla said that the initiative comes in response to a continuing concern of MPs representing tourist areas.

"I believe that this draft law brings to the Assembly the addressing of a concern that every MP, mainly representatives of coastal tourist and lake areas, has regarding the need to suspend activities during the peak of the tourist season," he said.

According to Balla, there are many cases where construction work continues near accommodation structures, creating concerns for vacationers.

"I have witnessed, together with fellow MPs, construction processes continuing next to hotels in tourist areas, making it impossible for vacationers to rest," declared the leader of the socialist parliamentary group.

He emphasized that the suspension of works will directly impact the improvement of the quality of the tourist offer.

"For this reason, we have proposed in the draft law on tourism that construction works be suspended during the tourist season, guaranteeing a smoother development of the season and higher quality of the tourist offer in our country," said Balla.

The draft law also provides for other changes related to the standardization of hotel categorization, electronic registration of clients, and improved waste management by accommodation structures./ CNA
