MP Saimir Korreshi is facing Flamur Noka in the race for the position of Secretary General of the Democratic Party.

Korresh's decision to participate in the vote was announced just moments before the start of the National Council meeting.

In a statement to journalists, he stated that there was no time for campaigning among Council members, emphasizing that both candidates are sufficiently well-known by Democrats and the choice is now in their hands.

"It's a decision of today. No one is forcing me. They know us, why should we campaign. Lobbying is what we represent to each other. Everyone knows, if the time has come for change, it will change ," said Korreshi.

Asked what his plan is if he is elected as the party's number two, the MP refused to provide details ahead of time, briefly responding that the voting process should first be completed.

"Let the voting end, then we'll talk ," said Korreshi. /CNA
