"Intentional murders at historic lows"/ Lamallari: "Smart

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, has made public the preliminary data of the crime report for the first 6 months of 2026, emphasizing that Albania has reached the lowest historical level of intentional homicides, as a result of the reforms undertaken, the strengthening of the State Police and investments in security.

Through a reaction on social networks, Minister Lamallari emphasizes that the comparative graph of intentional murders from 2005 to 2026 demonstrates the profound transformation of the parameters of order and security in the country.

"From an average of 49 intentional homicides in the decade 2005–2014, today we have dropped to only 18 cases, to historic lows, while the average for the last decade has more than halved to 23.4 cases," Lamallari emphasizes.

The Minister underlines that these results are not a coincidence, but the fruit of the Albanian government's reforms, continued support for the State Police and determination to fight crime.

"This is by no means a coincidence, but a result of the Albanian government's reforms, including the support and results of the work of the State Police, the investments we have made, and the determination not to back down in the fight against crime," he emphasizes.

Speaking about the "Smart City" project, whose Command and Control Center was opened the day before, Lamallari states that the integration of artificial intelligence, smart cameras and advanced sensors for detecting gunshots will take the country to a new stage of crime prevention and suppression.

"Through technology, innovation and strengthening law enforcement institutions, we are creating security standards worthy of a member country of the European family, as Albania will be by 2030," concludes the post, the Minister of Internal Affairs.
