Today marks two years since Hamas' attacks on Israel on Saturday, October 7, 2023

in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

After that, Israel launched a massive campaign of airstrikes on targets in Gaza, followed by a ground invasion, with the aim of destroying Hamas and freeing the hostages.

In Gaza, 67,160 people have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Most of its population has been displaced and more than 90% of homes are estimated to have been damaged or destroyed.

Yesterday, indirect talks between Israel and Hamas began in Egypt with the aim of securing a ceasefire in Gaza.

In addition to representatives from Hamas and Israel, the meeting was attended by American, Qatari and Egyptian mediators.

In Sharm El-Sheikh, delegations are reviewing Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan. Israel has agreed to the proposals, while Hamas has partially accepted it.

So far, Hamas has agreed to release the hostages and allow an international force to govern Gaza after an ultimatum from US President Donald Trump was given until Sunday.
