Katy Perry's concert in Belgium was canceled at the last minute on Saturday night due to dangerous weather conditions, disappointing thousands of fans who were expecting her performance at the Werchter Boutique festival.

Local authorities ordered the concert canceled for safety reasons, due to severe storms forecast for the area. In a reaction on social media, Perry stressed that the decision was not made by her.

"Unfortunately, my performance cannot take place due to an order from the authorities, due to bad weather and concerns for public safety," she wrote.

The singer revealed that she was already backstage, preparing to go on stage, when she was informed of the cancellation.

"I was getting my hair and makeup done when I got the news. I had no choice. I'm as disappointed as you are. The safety of the 55,000 spectators is always our priority. I'm sorry I can't change the weather and that we couldn't be together tonight," Perry said.

She added that she was looking forward to returning to Belgium after 17 years and had even planned to wear the same outfit she had worn at her 2009 concert.

Festival organizers explained that the decision was made following warnings of severe storms and to ensure the safe departure of attendees. They announced that the festival would end immediately after Pitbull's performance, while activities planned for the following day would proceed as scheduled. /CNA
