Finland's Stubb: I will report to Trump on visit to Kiev

Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo are expected to pay official visits to Washington on October 9 and 10 to discuss bilateral relations between the countries as well as the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On September 11 of this year, Stubb, during his visit to Kiev, criticized Slovakia and Hungary for their continued purchase of Russian oil.

"President Trump is right when he says that we must first put our own house in order by no longer buying gas and oil from Russia, and this applies to Hungary and Slovakia ," Stubb said in his statement during his stay in Kiev.

Finland, a country bordering Russia, maintained a neutral position during World War II, but with the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, it applied to become a member of NATO and this was finalized on April 4, 2023./CNA
