US-Iran talks in Pakistan/ JD Vance leads US delegation

US President Donald Trump has said a delegation will travel to Pakistan for a new round of negotiations with Iran.

In his social media post, he said his representatives would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening. Shortly after, the White House told US Vice President JD Vance that he would lead the American delegation.

A White House official confirmed to the BBC that the delegation would include Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were also present at previous talks.

Tehran has yet to confirm its participation. Iranian state media has reported that officials will not attend as long as the US blockade remains in place.

The latest talks lasted about 21 hours and failed to reach a peace deal, as Washington and Tehran remained at odds over key issues, including Iran's nuclear program./CNA, translated by BBC
