Iran: Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until US blockade is lifted

Iran's Revolutionary Guards have announced in a statement that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed starting tonight, claiming that the United States violated the terms of the ceasefire with its naval blockade of Iranian ships and ports.

In a statement, they said that although several ships passed through the Strait yesterday, Washington did not lift the naval blockade, which, as claimed, constitutes a violation of the agreed terms.

"As of tonight, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the American blockade is lifted ," the statement said.

At the same time, the Revolutionary Guard warned that no ship should leave its location in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of ??Oman, apparently stressing that any movement towards the Strait of Hormuz could be considered collaboration with the enemy and lead to the targeting of the ship.

Earlier, the US president told reporters that the US is still engaged in "very good talks" with Iran and acknowledged that Tehran "wants to close the Strait again".

"They can't blackmail us,"  Trump said of Iran, adding that he would have more information about the talks with Tehran by the end of the day.

Earlier today, two Indian-flagged ships carrying crude oil were attacked by Iranian forces as they tried to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. /CNA
