US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared that Europe is facing an "invasion" of dangerous ideologies coming from the sea, linking migration to the Normandy landings.

The comments from Hegseth were made in a speech at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colville-sur-Mer and echo frequent criticism of US President Donald Trump's administration regarding policies in Europe.

"Unfortunately, today, various European shores are being attacked by different and dangerous ideologies. Ships and people are arriving on the shores of Spain, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria," Hegseth said.
