IBAR/Berisha Report: Voted after serious amendments, due to government positions

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated today at the event organized by the LDGSH, that the IBAR report was voted on, but only after making some changes.

Berisha said that the IBAR amendments were amended following the government's stance on investigations, justice, and the fight against corruption.

According to him, there were great reflections on the problems to be addressed, while adding that he hopes that the EU will maintain its focus on the Western Balkans region.

“Once again I would like to thank you very much and assure you that this conference is of great importance to us and we have great support. Whatever difficulties we face, we remain deeply convinced to work hard for integration, the European integration process. Despite the fact that the government tries to keep it almost as a separate process, not only for the opposition, but also for the public and civil society. We stood firm on this ownership of this process and some progress has been made.

Some things were achieved in this direction, but again we insisted. IBAR was voted on today for Albania, but as you have heard, it was amended. It was amended in a serious way after the government's stance on investigations, on justice, on the fight against corruption. So, there have been great reflections on the problems to be addressed. I hope that the European Union will keep its focus on our region. Our region is important.

Not because, as they say, the Balkans produce more history than they can consume, so I think the best way to make it produce a little less history and more future is European integration. So I think that despite the problems that our countries have, there is no better way to solve the problems of the region. A very important region, with extraordinary potentials", said Berisha. /CNA
