"We have ambition"/ Balla: Negotiations will close at the end of 2027,

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said today outside the Parliament premises that the interim milestone report will be passed on Friday to the Committee of Representatives, as another phase of the country's progress towards the integration process.

Speaking to reporters, Balla emphasized once again that the majority's ambition is to conclude negotiations with the EU by the end of 2027 in accordance with the agreed program.

According to Balla, the ratification process is lengthy, which may require the involvement of parliaments and the involvement of the people through a referendum.

"We are at the end of a week within which the EU, in compliance with bureaucratic procedures, will move from the working group to the Committee of Representatives tomorrow, where in a way all that colossal work done by many state institutions involved in this process of addressing intermediate milestones will be approved. We should not be afraid that phased membership will harm us. On the contrary, it has nothing to do with us. Our ambition to close the negotiations by the end of 2027 is in line with the agreed program. At the end of 2027, the negotiations will be closed. From that moment on, the agreement is ready to be ratified by the member states. From that moment on, the ball is in their court. The ratification process is long, it may require the involvement of parliaments and the involvement of the people through a referendum," Balla said./ CNA
