Rama in the role of "mentor" for Europe/ Criticizes Brussels,

In an attempt to project the image of a leader who sees politics beyond national borders, Prime Minister Edi Rama has chosen to articulate harsh criticism of the current architecture of the European Union.

During his participation in the "Lennart Meri" Conference in Tallinn, Rama has held positions that sound like a "lesson" for Brussels, questioning the EU's ability to maintain its weight on the geopolitical scene.

Through an interview given to the Estonian daily "Postimees", the Prime Minister warned that, by leaving communication with Russia almost exclusively to the United States of America, Europe risks becoming a secondary factor.

His rhetoric became even bolder during the opening panel, where Rama raised questions about the future of European "civilization", drawing parallels with the former Soviet Union and highlighting the crisis of legitimacy and bureaucratic fragmentation that is weakening the continent.

However, this international "lecturing" on the fate of Europe comes in stark contrast to the domestic reality in Albania. Asked by Estonian media about the allegations of corruption in the country, Rama chose to change his tone, appearing defensive.

Furthermore, Rama claimed that thanks to the digitalization of 95% of services, Albania has eliminated corruption in the citizen-state relationship.

" In Albania we do not have immunity from investigation. So, anyone can be investigated. Even I myself can be investigated by the prosecutor without even knowing it. The only thing the parliament does is say "yes" or "no" to the restriction of someone's freedom ," Rama said, among other things.

This appearance of Rama in the role of a mentor who is "concerned" about Europe, as his government faces institutional crises and serious accusations within the country, seems like a strategy to shift attention.

It remains unclear whether these messages will be read as a constructive contribution or as an attempt to dress up as a geopolitical strategist seeking to show Brussels the way, while the reality in Tirana tells a different story.
