This morning, the hearings of the Commission for Administrative-Territorial Reform are taking place, with the leaders of the municipalities of Gjirokastër, Lezhë and Korçë.

Arbjan Mazniku, co-chair of this commission, emphasized that preparing for this reform is a complex exercise.  

In his speech, Mazniku focused on the importance of reviewing elements such as construction, roads, social services, forests, or even territorial control, which according to him are related to the functions and responsibilities of municipalities.

Mazniku also added that this reform will also create opportunities for legal adjustments and systems related to certain local government issues.

"This is undoubtedly a complex exercise. We have the opportunity to regulate elements that have to do with the functions and responsibilities that municipalities have. These are elements related to the way the issue of construction, roads, social services, forests, territory control works. We will have the opportunity to systematize and regulate those legal elements that provide the opportunity for the exercise of functions. Therefore, it is important to listen to the problems of these areas, to see how we can improve," said Mazniku. /CNA
