"The Commission should take care of culture"/ Zhupa: We cannot tell

A hearing session was held at the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora with artists and lecturers from the University of Arts.

The chairwoman of the commission, Ina Zhupa, said that it is the duty of this commission to care for national culture and that if teachers give up teaching, Albanian art will be lost.

Zhupa said that scientific works cannot be required of art teachers since they have artistic works. Their activity, Zhupa said, is public and well-known.

 

"It is the duty of this commission to take care of national culture and you contribute every day to national culture and identity. If tomorrow you give up teaching because you are not paid and your contributions to your career are not recognized, the ones who lose are our students and Albanian art. So this is an issue that goes beyond you, as it affects all of Albanian culture.

It is impossible to tell artist pedagogues that they do not have scientific works, while they have artistic works that are national treasures and contribute to the culture of the country. As long as the special status of the University of Arts has been recognized by the Council of Ministers, this status should be recognized in reality and not just on paper. Their activity is public and well-known.

"The university and the ministry cannot say that your titles are valid when the faculties need them for accreditation, but they are not valid when you need them for financial effects and career advancement. Artists deserve dignity and immediate and full recognition of all effects for their academic titles ," said Zhupa.
