DP Chairman Sali Berisha has reacted through a video message regarding today's statements by Prime Minister Edi Rama on the podcast "Flasim".

Berisha has accused Rama of manipulating the facts, while adding that according to international assessments of public tenders, Albania has marked a significant decline in transparency and standards, while raising accusations of illegal benefits from persons connected to the prime minister.

He spoke again about a statement by the prime minister at a conference in Estonia, where he compared Albanians to the Taliban, describing this as offensive and unacceptable.

"After being branded by the Tender Europe institution, which in its tender evaluations in 38 countries found that Albania had a dramatic decline from 2010 to 2026, from 80 points it had in 2010-2013, it drops to 64 points in 2026 and each of you can see this graph of this institution. In addition, Europe Tender finds that transparency has dropped to 50 points and the dramatic thing is that red flags have 40% of tenders and in this context I remind you here that it is Edi Rama's cronies who have won hundreds of secret tenders in violation of the law and in just one year have received 800 payment transactions from the state treasury. The leading democrat further emphasized that the opposition supports the process for geopolitical reasons, but Albania does not meet the criteria for membership.

He added that the resolution adopted in the Assembly does not contain assessments of the government, but only demands and obligations within the framework of the integration process.

"In his monologue, among other things, he also focused on the resolution that was voted in parliament, claiming that the opposition voted for it after finding that IBAR was being unblocked. The truth is that the opposition has a thesis from which it does not budge, that Albania, apart from the geopolitical criterion, absolutely does not meet any criteria for membership in the European Union, but the opposition supports this process as a process dictated by geopolitics and has never thought and does not think of blocking the process. The resolution from alpha to omega does not contain a single word of appreciation for the work of the government or parliament, but simply lists the demands and tasks necessary for the integration process ," Berisha said. /CNA
