"Tiger's Leap" and absence in Parliament/ Rama between brilliance

Edi Rama, a prime minister on two different levels, a protagonist on European screens with messages about integration and Artificial Intelligence, but avoids the Parliament hall when the same issues are discussed.

Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Tallinn, Estonia, this Friday to participate in the Lennart Meri 2026 Conference, one of the most important geopolitical security forums.

Under the motto "Fate favors the brave", the head of government held a joint statement with his Estonian counterpart, Kristen Michal, where he announced the ambition that Albania's journey towards 2030 be guided by technological innovations.

In his speech, Rama requested official Tallinn's assistance for what he called "the tiger's leap", aiming to apply the Estonian model in the education and technology system.

From the Baltic country, the prime minister did not spare diplomatic jokes and geopolitical ironies, inviting Estonian investors and tourists to abandon the darkness and choose Albania, guaranteeing that they will feel at home in Albania as there is no sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

But as the head of government positions himself alongside Euro-Atlantic leaders to discuss strengthening NATO and the role of Ukraine, this diplomatic parade has left a bitter taste in Tirana. Just a day earlier, the parliament hall was engulfed in fierce tensions precisely because of his absence.

On the agenda was the discussion of the draft resolution on Albania's integration into the European Union, but while the deputies were waiting to confront the head of government, Rama appeared on social networks from Germany, where he participated in the "Charlemagne Prize" award ceremony alongside Mario Draghi.

The Prime Minister's absence was described by the opposition as a pure act of irresponsibility in relation to accountability.

This agenda may also demonstrate the priorities of the head of government, yesterday in Germany, today in Estonia, but rarely and less often in the Albanian Parliament to face the reality of the country he leads./ CNA
