Rama and the red lines in the PS/ From "declarations of love" to the Berisha-Spiropali clash

2026-05-15 13:02:00, Politikë CNA

The controversies within the socialist camp and the recent statements of MPs Erion Braçe and Elisa Spiropali have caught the attention of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but also of the opposition.

During a conversation with publisher Nikoll Lesi, Rama responded to rumors of rebellion within the party, while this Thursday the debate moved to the Parliament hall with mutual accusations between Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha and Spiropali himself.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has chosen to appear sporting in the face of criticism coming from within his parliamentary group.

For Erion Braça, the head of government stated that his critical profile is simply himself, while for Elisa Spiropali, Rama read between the lines as "declarations of love." However, he did not forget to set the red line that, as he said, should not be crossed.

But this crisis within the Socialists has not gone unnoticed by the opposition. In this Thursday's plenary session, Sali Berisha took aim at Elisa Spiropali, making fun of her relationship with the Prime Minister. According to Berisha, Rama is dumping the MP despite the praise she has heaped on him over the years.

On the other hand, Spiropali avoided comments on her relationship with Rama, even though she has been very vocal on social media with criticism of the Socialists, but this Thursday in the assembly she chose to focus on the figure of Berisha, describing him as a contradictory politician.

Despite comments about cracks in the ranks of the majority, Edi Rama's message remains clear: within the socialist family, you are allowed to be yourself, but only up to the third red line./ CNA
