Former Socialist Party MP Petro Koçi spoke in a television appearance about the approval of the draft resolution on EU integration.

Koçi said that what matters in this DP-SP "union" is what such a consensus can bring, stating that there could be a repeat of April 21, 2008.

The former MP stated that this consensus could bring about a drastic reduction in Parliament, which would not be a very positive thing.

 

" We all know that parliamentary resolutions do not have any supreme importance from a constitutional point of view, but should be taken as a positive gesture. While, on the other hand, it is certainly normal for everyone to have questions about the future. So, what could the consensus between the two parties warn of? Because everyone would fear a repeated "April 21, 2008" with the Parliament, with the number of members of Parliament. Of course, the public can expect it positively, but if we are to have a drastic reduction and that is also accompanied by a problematic electoral law regarding the possibility of introducing new political currents into Parliament, of course this would be a dangerous step. I think that a drastic reduction of Parliament will then have to be accompanied by some other constitutional parameters that at least maintain the constitutional spaces of pluralism at normal levels. Because a bipolarity predetermined in the Constitution I do not think is a very positive thing ," said Koçi./CNA
