"Rama's invitation to Estonians is hypocrisy"/ Këlliçi: Only the prime minister's partner does business in Albania

"Rama's invitation to Estonians is hypocrisy"/

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has reacted harshly to the invitation that Prime Minister Edi Rama made to Estonian entrepreneurs to invest in Albania, describing it as a "propaganda slogan" and pure hypocrisy.

Through a statement on social media, Këlliçi stated that the reality faced by foreign investors in Albania is completely different from that presented at summits or official meetings.

According to him, the lack of large investors from Germany, Italy or the United States of America comes as a direct consequence of the fact that to do business in the country, the default condition is to be a partner or client of Edi Rama.

Këlliçi made strong accusations about the allocation of public assets and strategic tenders to private parties, outside of any fair competition.

He denounced specific cases such as the free transfer of the most expensive land in the country for the Alabar project, the awarding of 50 million euros to a Turkish company without performing any work, as well as the 120 million euro project for smart-city technology that, according to him, is being awarded without competition to a Chinese company.

Këlliçi also mentioned names rumored in previous affairs, such as McGonigal, Guardia di Finanza officials and other exponents, to illustrate how, according to him, the narrow circle of beneficiaries in Albania operates.

"You have to be like Ron of the Guns to be successful. With status like Alabar who gets the most expensive land for free. It's a good thing if you're like McGonigal. You become an owner if you're that general of the Guardia di Financa who reports that there are no drugs. Only if you cross over to Rama's side and support his interests, the roads will open," said Këlliçi.

In closing his response, Këlliçi underlined that the most serious files of abuse of power in Albania have already been uncovered by international partners. He mocked the efforts of the head of government, adding that despite Rama's hopes, the image of corruption of the Albanian executive has already reached distant Estonia.

"Hypocrisy with the invitation to come to Albania!"

After Edi Rama invited Estonians today to come to Albania because they will feel good! Of course, this is a slogan in the case of our prime minister. The reality speaks differently.

This is why not only Estonians, but also German, Italian, and American investors are absent today. Because to do business here, you have to be a partner and client of Edi Rama.

You have to be like Ron of the guns to succeed. With status like Alabar who gets the most expensive land for free. It's a blessing if you're like McGonigal. You become an owner if you're that Guardia di Financa general who reports that there are no drugs. Only if you cross over to Rama's side and support his interests, the roads will open.

You should be like that Turkish company that got 50 million euros without doing anything. Or like the Chinese friend of the head of the organization that is getting 120 million euros for a smart city. No competition. Affairs that are resolved with the boss at the table.

In a country where everything is predetermined, where tenders, procurements, concessions, licenses are held by a handful of people, the close club of the prime minister and his family, any invitation extended to foreigners to come here is simply hypocrisy.

What is said in public is propaganda. As it works in practice, entrepreneurs must resolve it privately.

This truth of a small country with great corruption has unfortunately become known.

Many of the most serious abuse cases have come from partners. Perhaps Edi Rama hopes that his exploits have not reached far-off Estonia.

But the chances are that Albania has become known there too for the affairs of the most corrupt Prime Minister in Europe," Këlliçi writes./ CNA
