Berisha the only candidate for the leadership of the DP/ Kikia: Ridiculous,

Analyst and journalist Mentor Kikia spoke about the elections for the leader of the Democratic Party, where the only candidate is Sali Berisha.

During an interview, Kikia called this a ridiculous situation because we are not dealing with elections, nor an electoral process, nor transparency, nor accountability.

May 23 will be a kind of party referendum for Berisha, whether or not they want him to continue as the leader of the DP.

"What is happening, or what has already happened in the Democratic Party, is a situation bordering on the ridiculous. I heard Mr. Berisha say again today that these are the most democratic, most serious elections, and I don't understand where the elections are here?"

There will undoubtedly be a voting process and, as far as I am informed, there will be an alternative where the voter agrees or disagrees with the fact that Mr. Berisha is the chairman of the Democratic Party. So, it will be a kind of party referendum for Berisha and not an election between one, two or more candidates. So, there is no election, there is an expression of will or a vote of confidence in an individual.

And in the end it could turn out that 90% support Berisha and 10% do not support Berisha, but they do not have another candidate to support. But in the conditions where there is no other candidate, there will be no other representative in that so-called electoral commission to verify who voted for and who did not vote.

Again, beyond this artifice, there is no election. And I still don't understand why all this noise had to be made in the Democratic Party, so much energy spent on candidates, on war, on insults, on shouting at each other, on lawsuits and courts, when there is no intention of holding an election. To do the same thing that Rama did! There is no election. There is not in any Albanian political party, because in Albania there is no democracy within political parties. There are no electoral processes, there is no transparency, there is no accountability, there is nothing at all.

"Then, when there is none, there is none! And there is no need to make noise when you do not intend to hold elections, and even more so, to sell them, even three days before the elections, to sell these as elections. So, in this context, it seems to me that we are at that end point of the degradation of politics in a ridiculous situation," he said./ CNA
