Rama in Tokyo: Albania is experiencing the most concrete moment on the path

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the United Nations University in Tokyo, stated that European integration is not simply a bureaucratic process or technical negotiation, but a national aspiration and a civilizational choice.

Rama stressed that Albania is closer than ever to the European Union, describing the integration process as more concrete and real than at any other time. According to him, after the opening of accession negotiations, the country has entered a decisive phase on its journey towards the EU.

He also announced that next week Albania will hold an intergovernmental conference with the European Union, considering this another important step in the integration process.

"European integration has not been a bureaucratic process nor a technical negotiation. It is a national aspiration, a civilizational choice, a commitment to belong to the family of European nations. Albania is closer than ever to the EU; we have never seen this process so concrete and real. Following the opening of accession negotiations, we have entered the decisive phase of the journey towards the EU. Next week we will have an intergovernmental conference with the EU.

The road ahead remains very demanding and challenging, but we have never been more determined. In fact, today we are more convinced than ever that we cannot think of a plan B other than the European Union. There is no plan B in the face of freedom, the rule of law and democracy”, said Rama./ CNA
