FATOS NANO IS NOT AN EX

It wasn't difficult to tell from the others that Fatos Nano was different.

He tried to impose himself on his time, offering the model of a courageous and far-sighted politician, although he did not always succeed.

He was perhaps the only politician of the time of the coup, when others who got involved in politics improvised, learning it along the way.

Defiant, but also convinced that he had chosen to do the most difficult thing, Fatos Nano took responsibility when many others who were invited before him did not dare and when everyone wanted to leave power as soon as possible.

He chose to be at the top not for careerism, but for citizenship.

At that crossroads of ages, when all that was offered was gloom without a single ray of horizon, Fatos Nano saved the left, because he knew how to build a team of faith and transform faith into hope.

It is incredible how he managed to retain almost 80,000 of the ALP's membership, motivating them on the new path of change, while there was a risk that the majority of them would oppose him, and even declare him a traitor.

At the head of and together with a group of intellectuals, some of the country's most skilled in their professions, he saved the Albanian left, by installing for the first time two mechanisms of party self-democratization: factions and resignation.

Fatos Nano governed with parties. Unfortunately, he was not followed as a model and it happened that Albania after him was increasingly governed with clans and circulating castes.

He made an "alliance" with the public and shattered the decisions closed in the party, turning debate into a method.

Fatos Nano saw the change and modernization of the party and the implementation of democracy within it as the first important condition for the change and modernization of Albanian society and for the democratic governance of the country.

His political credo was inclusiveness, while the motto of the government was: "let go of power, to build a state."

Without Fatos Nano, the Socialist Party would not have been able to become what it became.

He insisted and enforced state protocol, trampled upon during the years of the coup; he returned state behavior to representative offices.

He conceived and paved the way for major reforms and pushed the country's economy into the free market, insisting on respecting the rules and principles of competition and transparency.

He raised respect for the values ??of Eurosocialism to a cult using acquired and self-acquired knowledge.

He took risks with all the means of knowledge: even with irony, sarcasm, and humor, but always far from banality, with the elegance and finesse of a first-rate intellectual.

Fatos Nano was unique.

And he remains so. There was no one like him and there is no one like him. No one has ever reached or surpassed the standard he set.

He is like those great record holders in athletics competitions, whose records, even though several decades have passed, have not been broken by anyone.

Therefore, Fatos Nano is not an "ex".

He was never called the former leader of the Socialist Party, even though another leader came to lead it after him.

He was and always will remain the Historical Chairman of the Socialist Party.
