Search and rescue operations continue/ Over 2,800 victims from the earthquake in Morocco

Rescue teams are still continuing operations to find survivors in the rubble and reach isolated communities after Friday's powerful earthquake in Morocco.

According to foreign media, more than 2,800 people have been killed and 2,500 injured.

Friday's earthquake was the strongest to hit the center of the country in more than a century, and the greatest destruction was in isolated mountainous areas.

The epicenter was not far from the tourist center of Marrakech. Many residents have been sleeping on the streets, too scared to return to their homes, and historical sites have been damaged.

Morocco's King Mohammed VI ordered an aid commission to be set up to distribute aid to survivors, as global leaders also pledged support./ CNA
