Germany demands the implementation of the Agreement towards normalization

Germany has asked Kosovo and Serbia to implement the Agreement towards normalization and to commit to the expansion of the situation in the north of Kosovo.

The German ambassador in Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, said that the new round of high-level dialogue, set for September 14, "comes at a critical moment".

"The high-level meeting on September 14 comes at a critical moment. We need the full commitment of both sides for full extension, for dialogue mediated by the EU and for a participatory democracy. The Ohrid Agreement must be implemented now. There should be no more blame games. Remove obstacles to progress. It's time to act for the good of all," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kosovo and Serbia in February in Brussels reached the Agreement towards the normalization of relations, while in March in Ohrid they agreed on the Annex for its implementation.

The 11-article agreement does not include the mutual recognition that Kosovo insists on, but requires Kosovo and Serbia to accept each other's documents and symbols, including: passports, diplomas and license plates.

Meanwhile, the new round of dialogue comes after several months of high tensions in the north of Kosovo. The prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, are expected to participate in it./ REL
