PHOTOS - What remains of the earthquake in Morocco / Victims, people in the open sky and collapsed buildings

On Friday evening, shortly after 23:00, Morocco was hit by a powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake.

Foreign media report over 2,000 victims and buildings and institutions or cult objects destroyed by the powerful tremors of the earthquake.

Rescue teams in Morocco are continuing their 48-hour operation.

Mountain villages near the epicenter are in ruins and many locals are desperately waiting for help.

Images published in foreign media show people left in the open and on the rubble of homes, desperate for their losses and victims pulled from the rubble.

On the other hand, the Moroccan government says it has received aid from four countries so far - Britain, Spain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
