The Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo, Nenad Rashiq, called on Sunday, as he called, the radical regime of Serbia to release the new director of the Municipality of Leposavic, Nikola Radimirovic, whom he said was arrested on 9 September and is being held in Raska, southwest of Serbia.

Kosovo's Minister of Defense, Xhelal Sveçla, said late Saturday that Kosovo Serb politician Radimirovic was arrested along with his fiancee.

Nikola is the son of the Deputy Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo, Radoica Radimirovi?.

Rashiqi said on September 10 at a press conference in Pristina that "the reason for Nikola's arrest is the pressure on Radoica."

"I dare to say that this is part of the methodology of blackmail", emphasized Rashiq.

Radimirovic was appointed director of the Leposavic Municipality Administration after the April elections in the four Serb-majority municipalities in the north, which produced Albanian mayors and which were boycotted and opposed by the Serbs – leading to a tense situation.

He described the situation as "truly dramatic", adding that "it is a methodology that has been applied for 7-8 years, when I say so many years, my personal case lasts so long. Every time I tried to cross the border I was stopped [by the Serbian police] for several hours, every time. I usually go [to Serbia] for family visits.”

Rasic said that Radimirovic was detained at the border point in Leposavic for more than eight hours, before being sent to a police station in Raska, where he is being held awaiting the preliminary judge.

"He was interrogated by people who introduced themselves as members of the BIA [Security and Information Agency of Serbia]. According to information, he will be held there until Monday at least."

Rasi? accused the Government of Serbia of trying to control Kosovo Serb politicians through pressure and blackmail.

"We have reached the peak of a situation where each of us who thinks differently from the radical, extreme regime, which unfortunately has power in Belgrade, has become the target of rude and inhumane actions."

Ministri Sveçla i kërkoi Serbisë t’i ndalë presionet dhe “aktet e jashtëligjshme ndaj shtetasve të Kosovës, veçanërisht ndaj atyre të etnisë serbe të cilët janë lojal ndaj shtetit të tyre, Republikës së Kosovës, e në shërbim të të gjithë qytetarëve të saj.”/ REL
