Trump calls Emir of Qatar to discuss regional tensions and Iran

United States President Donald Trump held a phone call this Wednesday with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

During the conversation, the two leaders discussed efforts to reduce tensions and stabilize the situation in the Gulf region and the Middle East, particularly regarding issues related to Iran and its nuclear program.

The conversation came at a time when the US Secretary of State and US authorities are conducting indirect talks with Iran, while another meeting is expected between Trump and the Israeli prime minister to discuss negotiations with Tehran, including more than just the nuclear program and security issues.

The importance of Qatar playing an active role in diplomacy was also emphasized, to help reduce tensions, mediating between the parties and supporting solutions through dialogue./ CNA
