Germany plans to buy attack drones worth 536 million euros

The German government plans to buy attack drones worth 536 million euros from German start-up companies Helsing and Stark Defense, as part of efforts to strengthen its military capabilities.

Through contracts for drone equipment that flies over target areas before carrying out strikes, this initiative is part of a larger deal worth 4.3 billion euros.

The prestigious media outlet Reuters reports that the contracts are expected to be approved by the Budget Committee of the lower house of the German parliament. The drones will initially support Germany's 45th Tank Brigade, which is stationed in Lithuania.

The contracts with both companies provide for a seven-year term, while the first group of drones is expected to be delivered in early 2027./ CNA
