Explosion in Balldren, Lezha/Author arrested, accomplice sought

One of the perpetrators of the explosion that occurred yesterday in the village of Balldren in Lezha has been arrested, while his accomplice has been declared wanted.

Citizen AA, 55 years old, has been placed in handcuffs, while efforts are underway to capture citizen EZ, 35 years old.

The explosion occurred on a plot of land suspected to be owned by the Nikulaj tribe. The causes of the incident are still unknown, while investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the incident.

Police announcement:

Lezhë/Investigations and operational actions continue, with the aim of bringing to justice the perpetrators of the incident that occurred yesterday in the village of Balldren i Vjetër.

One of the perpetrators of the explosive device explosion is arrested.

His accomplice is identified and declared wanted.

At the conclusion of the first investigative actions carried out by the special group under the direction of the Lezha Prosecution Office, to identify and capture the perpetrators of the event of 10.06.2026, in the village of Balldren i Vjetër, where a quantity of explosive material exploded on a piece of land (without causing damage), the Criminal Investigation specialists at the Lezha Police Commissariat arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen AA, 55 years old, resident of Tirana.

Following the actions, it became possible to identify and declare his accomplice, citizen EZ, 35 years old, resident of Kruja, wanted, and work continues to locate and capture him. 

Meanwhile, the investigation continues to clarify and document the motive for this event.

The procedural materials were referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
