"They said I wanted to be like Putin"/ Rama: For integration we need a

Prime Minister and Socialist leader Edi Rama spoke extensively on the issue of the country's European integration during the SP Assembly meeting in Elbasan.

In his speech to those present from across the region, Rama stated that Albanians have this issue at the center of attention because they want this goal, for which they supported the SP through their vote, to be realized.

According to Rama, a strong mandate is also needed to make the European passport a reality.

The head of government also accused the opposition of blocking negotiations by not voting on legal compliance, if the majority had secured fewer mandates in the Assembly.  

"People are focusing on the issue of European integration because they want us to achieve what they gave us all that support for. To make the European Union passport a reality and for this to happen we need a strong mandate. When I said this, they told me that I wanted to be like Putin. But here we are today, when at the end of January we passed 27 laws of the package just for negotiations. We have all the tasks on the table. All of them are to harmonize the legislation with that of the EU. Some had 84 votes. Imagine if they had 75 mandates, where would we be today. Our negotiations would have been blocked", declared Rama. /CNA
