Deputy Minister of Defense, Pranvera Skana, has responded to the statements of Democratic Party MP, Gjin Gjoni, regarding the debate on the administrative-territorial reform and the Municipality of Mirdita.
In her response, Skana accuses the Democratic MP of trying to manipulate public opinion through statements that, according to her, are not based on the facts of the expert report. She emphasizes that the claim that the Socialist Party intends to remove Mirdita from the administrative-territorial map is unfounded.
According to the deputy minister, the expert report shows that Mirdita has weaker economic, demographic and functional indicators compared to some other municipalities, but these indicators, according to her, do not constitute sufficient reasons to propose administrative mergers.
Skana underlines that other factors were also taken into consideration in the experts' analysis, such as distance from urban centers, local identity, social and cultural elements, as well as the territorial features of the area.
She calls on John to conduct public debate based on facts and arguments, avoiding, according to her, disinformation and unnecessary alarms.
In conclusion, the Deputy Minister emphasizes that Mirdita needs more economic development and opportunities for its residents, while stating that the Socialist Party is working for the development of Mirdita and the entire country.
"The "part-time" deputy of the Lezha District, Gjin Gjoni, whose "heart cries" for Mirdita, has a concern that is disturbing and pushing him to take on the role of expert without deigning to study the facts and reality. He certainly does not spare the "revolutionary" language inspired by his peers and friends on the boulevard to incite feelings of anger among Mirdita residents, seeking to manipulate reality through hate-filled and very untrue posts on social networks.
After the Justice Department reacted with "clean hands" that the Socialist Party is allegedly trying to erase Mirdita from the administrative-territorial map and is attempting to distort a reality that is visible and tangible to all residents of this proud area.
I carefully read the experts' report (which I suspect the revolutionary MP did) and I think the debate should start from the facts, not from news reports that Gjini interprets as court decisions that have boosted his career.
We must be realistic and truthful with people, no one can ask experts to hide the reality of the numbers. Mirdita has not very strong economic, demographic and functional indicators compared to many other municipalities and this is a fact and does not change by denying it.
But it is equally true that the experts themselves explain that these indicators are not sufficient reason to propose mechanical mergers. Their analysis also took into account other important factors, such as distance from urban centers, local identity, social and cultural elements, as well as the territorial characteristics of each area.
Therefore, Gjin, before making strong statements and playing the role of Facebook's brave men, it is better to sit down and read the report with the coolness and logic of a man who has worked with the facts and has not used them for personal interest or political gain. Public debate wins from arguments and facts, not from disinformation and useless alarms.
"Mirdita does not need artificial panic. It needs more development, more economy and more opportunities for its people, and the Socialist Party is working every day to transform Mirdita and all of Albania into the "jewel" of a changing Europe, in which Albanians will also have an important place very soon," Skana emphasizes./ CNA
