The head of government, Edi Rama, has reacted to the appointment of the new Prime Minister of Ukraine, Serhii Koretskyi.

In a reaction to "X", Rama writes that he wishes Koretskyi success in leading the country alongside President Volodymyr Zelensky, while adding that Ukraine is in one of the most difficult chapters in its history.

Among other things, it emphasizes Albania's support for the government and people of Ukraine in their struggle for freedom and lasting peace.

"To Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi on his appointment by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. I wish him success as he joins President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in leading Ukraine through one of the most difficult chapters of its history, with courage, resilience and determination. Albania stands steadfastly alongside President Zelenskyy, the Government of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom, sovereignty and a just and lasting peace," Rama's post reads. 

The Ukrainian parliament approved the appointment of Serhii Koretskyi as the country's new prime minister on July 16. His candidacy received the support of 289 deputies, paving the way for the formation of a new government following the resignation of the previous cabinet.

The government reshuffle process began this week, after parliament accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and her entire cabinet on July 15.

Serhii Koretskyi is a Ukrainian leader with a long career in the energy and private sectors. Since 2025, he has held the position of CEO of Naftogaz, the largest state-owned oil and gas company in Ukraine. /CNA
