Former vice-chairman and former MP of the Democratic Party, Edmond Spaho, has published an open letter addressed to Luciano Boçi, in which he makes strong accusations against the current leadership of the DP, particularly criticizing Flamur Noka and the party's leader, Sali Berisha.

Spaho says he was among the first voices within the DP to oppose Flamur Noka's leadership, accusing him of arrogance, nepotism, arbitrary decision-making and disregard for colleagues. According to him, clashes with Noka have been continuous, culminating in his removal from the political leadership of the Korça region and, subsequently, with what he describes as sabotage of his candidacy in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.

Spaho claims that the leaders of the Democratic Party campaigned against his candidacy on the open list, with the aim of keeping him out of Parliament. He adds that none of the party leaders reacted to the way the merger with Lulzim Basha's group was carried out or to the election loss, for which, according to him, no political responsibility was taken.

Spaho also criticizes the internal functioning of the Democratic Party, stating that the voting processes have not been fair since December 2021 and that the selection of candidates has been made on the basis of nepotism, servility, and personal interests, and not on merit or political contribution.

Spaho sends a message to Luciano Boçi and other Democrats, inviting them to speak openly about the party's problems and not remain silent in the face of, according to him, the degradation of internal democracy in the DP.

Dear Luciano,

I was one of the first in the DP to stand up against Mulism, not as a political philosophy, because that makes me laugh when I think of Mul as a party philosopher, but as arrogant behavior, disrespectful towards colleagues, arbitrary in every decision, nepotistic, without political morality, trampling on colleagues, through the claim to be Berisha's eyes and ears.

We have constantly discussed this issue, until a distinguished colleague sarcastically asked, why did we enter the Re-Foundation, to replace X with Mulin?

As you know, I clashed harshly with him as the leader of the DP and the parliamentary group, for the unprincipled merger with Luli's group. Then, when he saw even the slightest argument, he dismissed me from the post of head of the Korce district, simply because he did not like me and had given the floor to someone, with whom he is now an enemy, that Spaho would take a close look at the leadership of the Korce district. He tried to do the same thing with Luan Baci but without succeeding in getting him on the open list.

The day after the debate, when I met him in his office, he argued that they thought of replacing me with Ivi because Permet, the city where Ivi comes from, is close to the Korca region. Can you refute this "argument" when you consider the philosophy behind it?

For about two years, in direct communications with him, I have opposed his arrogant behavior, who did not ask anyone but only ordered what had to be done, when making decisions without even informing the district leaders, let alone consulting them. Only a thread separated us from a physical clash.

I have written to Sali Berisha dozens of times about his unacceptable behavior. He has always assured me that things will be resolved in the best possible way.

The problems were solved by removing me from politics, according to Muli's composition in the cafes of Tirana, even though I had contributions at least equal to all the others who supported Rithemelimi and remained in politics with guarantees from Berisha.

Furthermore, the DP sabotaged my personal campaign for the May 11, 2025 elections on the open list. It has never happened in the DP that Muli and the district leader campaign against their colleague to prevent him from being in Parliament.

None of you spoke at that time. No one spoke about how the merger was made and how the people of Ritshemeli were humiliated, those who were the first to support Berisha and his promise of a truly democratic party. Everyone saw their comfort.

But there was no talk even when we shamefully lost the elections by 300 thousand votes. No analysis was done, no one took responsibility. Only I resigned from the functions I had, although the responsibility for the loss began with Berisha and those in leadership.

Why wasn't the statute implemented for the resignation of the Chairman, why didn't anyone speak up and stand up to defend democracy in the party?

Today you are experiencing on your back what I went through without justice.

The voting is not clean at all. It has never been since December 2021. How can it be clean when LDG and FRDP control 60% of the votes in the National Council. Luciano understands, partner organizations determine who should lead the DP. This shameful procedure began with the Re-establishment and your "friends" have introduced it according to the order given to them. With pain, brother with pain, as Kadare used to say.

This is how it would happen, because when it was necessary, no one raised their voice that the lists for deputies were not being drawn up on merit, on the sacrifices of each person, the results of the primaries, and the work done with immigrants, but on nepotism, factions, financial promises, and servility.

Everyone, without their own personal interest, would have been enough to be on the closed list, and then let the chaos begin. Today it was your turn to be unjustly penalized, even though you won in Shkoder and no one knew.

Take comfort in the fact that you are neither the first nor the last in Berisha's DP. Today, almost all of Rithemelim are basking in the sun. In the upcoming elections, even the few who are still in politics will be liquidated.

If you really feel sorry for the DP, open your mouth, talk about the quagmire that is there, how people are elected and promoted, how those who dare to raise problems and disagree with what Berisha and his Muli say when they are wrong are defeated. Scratch the wound so that the truth comes out.

Don't look at your personal interest with the thought that it's enough to be nice to Berisha for yourself.

Don't accept being offended that the current leadership team is the best the DP has had since its creation. If you put the entire current team together, they wouldn't even be a quarter of what Pjeter Arbnor did, who served 28 years in communist prisons.

Luciano, Berisha doesn't love anyone, so don't be upset that he left you. He only loves himself. He doesn't love Muli either, but today Muli is offering him what you and I can't do.
