Rama: If there were a dirty money laundering machine here, we would not close

At the "Double Your Entrepreneurship" program event, Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about the allegations of the presence of dirty money in the Albanian economy.

Rama stated that the strengthening of institutions and the role of the Special Prosecution Office show that the system is fighting corruption and organized crime.  

"We argue that there is a huge money laundering machine here? But who would let us, if this were true, continue with the closing of the chapters of membership in the European Union? Just the idea that this could be true would have stopped everything and we would have become the target of all international institutions.

While today the novelty is not that a squad from the Moon has arrived and is fighting corruption here. The novelty is that the system has produced new mechanisms and SPAK is part of the system and this is the great transformation: that the system is fighting now. Until yesterday the system did not fight, until yesterday the system did not have the internal balances to guarantee immunity. Today the system is fighting.

"The fact that was mentioned here and that people involved in a network that has enabled the movement of dirty money are being caught is historic. For what? To show the increase in the level of immunity of the system, but it does not show that it is just a small detail in the great mountain of the narco-state. It shows that corruption, organized crime, trafficking, and networks are being hit, they are being hit, and, of course, being in everyone's eyes constantly, the perception is turned upside down,"  Rama said. /CNA
