Friends or subordinates of Fatos Baxhak?

I don't believe that there is any journalist of my generation who has not known, talked closely and cooperated even for a short time and with episodes of Fatos Baxhak.

I enter those I have known a little. We worked very little in the editorial office and I believe very few know that Fatos Baxhaku worked only two days as deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Koha Jonë" sometime in 1998 when I was also working.

But even if you didn't know him and worked closely, Fatos Baxhaku created that journalistic profile by turning into an XXL model in terms of professional quality, honesty and uncompromising work with power. I believe his masterpiece in his media career was directing "Gazeta Shqiptare".

Ato kohë u kthye në legjendë historia që përsëritej pothuajse çdo pasmesnate në shtyshkronjën “Demokracia”. Teksa dorëzonin kalqet e numrave të rinj, kryeredaktori i “Koha Jonë”, Armand Shkullaku dhe kryeredaktori i “Gazeta Shqiptare”, Fatos Baxhaku, “ziheshin’ se kush e kishte bërë numrin më të mirë të ditës, se cilat lajme ishin ekskluzive, pra cili staf dhe gazetar kishte punuar më mirë se tjetri.

Ky ishte momenti që ne gazetarët vlerësoheshim ose jo, kuotoheshim ose jo, nga fjalët e mira ose jo të Shkullakut dhe Baxhakut. Ditën tjetër, në mbledhjet e redaksisë së “Koha Jonë” më shumë përmendej emri i Fatos Baxhakut si shefi i gazetës konkurrente sesa i shefit tone që kërkonte llogari pse kishte humbur x lajm. Baxhaku ishte prezent në mbledhjet tona edhe pa qenë prezent. Madje, pa qenë fare pjestar i stafit të “Koha Jonë”.

Si sot, tri vjet më pare, Fatos Baxhaku u nda nga jeta. Ishte vërtetë një ditë zie për median shqiptare. Ajo që më bëri përshtypje nga shumë reagime me zë dhe me shkrime ishte se të gjithë, pa asnjë përjashtim, e quanin mik. Në fakt, ashtu i trajtonte Baxhaku të gjithë, kolegët, homologët, vartësit, të njohurit por edhe të panjohurit. Por, asnjë prej këtyre nuk shkruajti se Fatos Baxhaku u kishte mësuar A-në e gazetarisë.

I kishte marrë në punë, u kishte ndezur kompjuterin, u kishte mësuar si të mbanin gjithnjë me vete një bllok dhe një stilolaps. U kishte mësuar si të merrnin një lajm. Si të krijonin burimet dhe si të ishin besnikë dhe korrektë me to. U kishte mësuar se si të shkruanin mirë e bukur.

How to write without mistakes and with thought. He had taught them the discipline of the newsroom, how to behave, especially with subordinates. He even taught someone how to dress and especially how to maintain hygiene. Baxhak was truly a friend. But the irony is that very few returned Baxhak this in gratitude.

And gratitude would be for some of his old students to become Fatos Baxhak. They approached him, became friends, had a drink with him, stole his style, his profession and on the day he died they said "we lost a friend".

But, these "friends", two qualities they could not get: Honesty and simplicity. They cannot be stolen. Eternal memory of you, professor of journalists Fatos Bazhaku! Of those who knew you closely and those who did not know you, but had you as a role model.
