Where does the gender identity (gender expression) agenda take us?

2025-10-01 15:03:00, Opinione Miron Çako

As we know, the government seeks to vote in parliament on a draft law on gender equality, where in addition to male-female gender, as in the current law of the civil code on gender equality, No. 9970, dated 24.07.2008, a neutral or inclusive gender is also established, as the individual desires and feels, even though he is naturally determined by gender according to male-female sexuality from birth.

This bill is being opposed by public opinion, "conservative" groups and organizations that naturally accept only two genders, male and female, but also religious communities in the country, which have unanimously opposed this bill because it is against the creation of the Creator, who according to monotheistic religions, man is created sexually male and female and automatically divided into two genders, male and female. In a joint press statement, these communities say, among other things:

“We, as religious communities, emphasize the importance of the traditional family based on the two biological sexes: man and woman. For this reason, we request the clarification of the definition of the term “Gender” in the draft law, clearly linking it to the sex determined at birth – man, woman, girl, boy – in accordance with the principles of equality and non-discrimination.”-(Interreligious Council of Albania on September 23, 2025).

This bill is currently being defended by liberal or LGBTI groups, who do not accept the naturalness of male-female sexuality, but demand legal recognition that gender identity is not determined by the Creator, nor nature, nor medicine, but by the desire of the individual. They demand that the binary gender identity of male-female, man, woman, boy, girl be expanded to other undefined genders.

Today, in countries where this law has been voted on, the number of gender declarations according to sensitivity and desire has gone up to 72, depending on mixed gender, multi-gender, genderless, or according to environment, aesthetics, humor, emotions, prejudices, friends, space, nature, colors, experiences, etc. This creates an open "Pandora's box" that is difficult to categorize.

This debate has a long history in Europe and the world and is now being presented to us as a demand for EU integration.

The person who introduced the concept of alternative gender was the New Zealand physician, John Money, at Johns Hopkins University in 1955, who introduced the term "gender" to mean a person's gender behavior, regardless of reproductive organs.

The word “gender” in English comes from the Greek (φ?λο) which is derived from the verb φ?ω, which means “to be born”. So we have gender according to what we are born with, male and female reproductive sexual organs. This is a fundamental linguistic principle for naming living things, nature and things.

The new concept of "gender" is distinct from biological sex, according to which every created being is binary with two sexes: male and female. According to John Money and his followers, gender identity is considered the personal way an individual experiences their gender, regardless of their sex at birth.

This idea was supported by individuals and groups who deny sexual naturalness and seek to impose their personal passions.

The conflict between conservatives and liberals, or between naturalists and denaturalists, lies in:

Naturalists: gender roles are socially determined due to the reproductive sexual organs at birth.

Denaturalists: this definition is an obstacle to the expression of social gender, which does not need to match the natural, biological, or divine one.

If these debates had been held earlier, groups that deny the Creator and nature might have been treated as mentally ill, but today they are considered "modernity" and "freedom."

The World Health Organization (WHO) distinguishes between sex and gender:

Sex refers to the biological and physiological characteristics of males and females (reproductive organs, chromosomes, hormones, etc.).

Gender refers to the socially constructed characteristics of women and men (norms, roles, relationships), which varies from society to society and can be changed.

The US, contrary to the WHO, recognizes only two genders at birth. “It is the policy of the US to recognize two genders, male and female. These genders are not changeable and are based on a fundamental and indisputable reality” (White House — January 20, 2025).

Those who support denaturist theories use pathological cases such as intersexuality (DSD), which affects about 5% of people. In these cases, gender determination is done with the help of medicine, but a third gender is not created, but is only defined as male or female.

The Orthodox Church is against arbitrary gender assignment, because it is based on Holy Scripture and church doctrine. According to Holy Scripture, man is created in the image of God: “ And God created man in his own image; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:27).

Christ affirms: “From the beginning of Creation, God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6).

Orthodox doctrine shows that man and woman are created for spiritual and physical union, for spiritual perfection and reproduction. The enmities between them are not natural, but stem from sin.

Church canons prohibit any gender reassignment surgery and consider it a grave sin. Only cases of intersexuality are treated with medical care to determine the natal sex.

The Apostle Paul says, “There is neither male nor female in Christ, for you are all one” (Galatians 3:28) — meaning equality, not denial of male-female gender.

Hormonal/surgical changes and treatments to change gender create serious health and psychological consequences.

The Church treats these people with love, as spiritually sick, by offering baptism, confession, repentance, communion, and spiritual guidance.

Saint Pais of the Holy Mountain says: “When we see the Church as a spiritual hospital, we treat others with mercy. We are all patients in this hospital, some better, some worse, but none is completely cured.”

Thus, any bill that allows genders other than male-female is against nature, science, and God. Our duty is to protect divine creation and remain faithful to God's law: male and female are unchangeable and the foundation of life and family.

Indifference or liberalization towards these modern innovations is a great mistake. At first it may seem insignificant, but when they are legitimized and imposed on society, especially on children and young people in kindergartens, schools and public settings, it becomes a rebellion and collective sin against the Creator and human nature.

This trend, from the Christian perspective, is an action of the spirit of the Antichrist, which aims to eliminate human gender identity, the ability to reproduce, to have a family, and the ability to be a free being according to the image of God. The individual is transformed into a number, registered with a 666 seal, without desires, without natural sexual pleasures, and an eternal slave to the Antichrist.

For this reason, social indifference and inaction deserve divine punishment, as the Bible says: “And for this reason God will send them a strong delusion, so that they will believe a lie, so that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in wickedness!” (2 Thessalonians 2:11)
