Shooting at a school in Minnesota / 5 children injured, perpetrator arrested

Several children have been injured after a shooting at a school in Minnesota, USA. A hospital in Minneapolis says it is treating five children injured in a shooting.

Police responded to a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday during the first week of school. Authorities did not immediately provide information on the number of injuries.

The Minneapolis city government said the shooter had been taken under control after the school shooting and was no longer an "active threat" to residents.

At a meeting of Democratic officials in Minneapolis, Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin noted the shooting and the number of victims.

Governor Tim Walz called the shooting horrific and said on social media that he had been informed of the incident. 

"I am praying for our children and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence," Walz wrote on 'X' ./CNA
