EU allocates 7.5 million euros for Kosovo's energy sustainability

The European Union has allocated an additional 7.5 million euros to Kosovo under the Energy Support Package (IPA 2023), reconfirming its support for the green transition and clean energy in the country.

The funds were disbursed on August 19, 2025 and are part of the overall €75 million in assistance that the EU has provided so far for the energy sector.

"From this support, over 200,000 families have received assistance in paying their energy bills, over 3,600 houses have been renovated for energy efficiency, 28 residential buildings of vulnerable families are in the process of renovation, over 40,000 families and 154 businesses have been equipped with solar panels and energy-saving technologies. The EU stands by Kosovo and its people on the path towards sustainable energy, decarbonization and energy security," the announcement says.

Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, has stated that they will now enable 1,435 families and 10 businesses.

"The last installment has been released by the European Union, enabling the disbursement of funds to 1,435 families and 10 businesses that benefited from the last round of subsidies for energy-efficient equipment. Since 2022, initially through measures of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and onwards with the support of the European Union, we have supported over 43 thousand families and businesses with over 19.6 million euros, reducing energy costs and improving living conditions throughout the country," Rizvanolli declared.

She thanked the European Union for its continued partnership and trust that makes it possible to implement such programs that directly affect the lives of our citizens.
