Të paktën 41 vetë humbën jetën dhe 45 u plagosën nga një zjarr brenda një kishe në qytetin egjiptian të Gizës të dielën.

Zjarri i shkaktuar nga një masë elektrike shpërtheu gjatë meshës ndërsa 5000 njerëz ishin mbledhur në kishën koptike Abu Sifin në lagjen Imbaba, thanë burimet e sigurisë.

Zjarri bllokoi një hyrje të kishës, duke shkaktuar kaos, thanë ata, duke shtuar se shumica e të vdekurve ishin fëmijë.

“Besimtarët po mblidheshin në katin e tretë dhe të katërt, dhe ne pamë tym që vinte nga kati i dytë. Njerëzit nxituan të zbrisnin shkallët dhe pengonin njëri-tjetrin," tha Yasir Munir, një besimtar.

"Më pas dëgjuam një zhurmë, shkëndija dhe zjarr që dilnin nga dritarja," tha ai, duke thënë se ai dhe vajza e tij ishin në katin e parë dhe mundën të shpëtonin.

"Shpreh ngushëllimet e mia të sinqerta për familjet e viktimave të pafajshme," tha presidenti egjiptian Abdel Fattah al-Sisi në një postim në Twitter./ VOA
