"Vita" dairy factory in Kosovo closes

The Vita milk factory in Kosovo has been closed. According to reports, the decision to close came after an inspection of the company in Istog on the orders of the acting Ministry of Agriculture.

According to reports, the factory closure will be in effect until a second decision is made by the Ministry.

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Agriculture, Armend Muja, has also reacted to this. He writes that food safety requires equal implementation of the law for everyone.

Muja further adds that the controls carried out by the Food and Veterinary Agency (AVF) in the milk and dairy products sector at the "Vita" factory are carried out to verify compliance with production protocols, the degree of implementation of legal norms, licenses and authorizations, as well as the compliance of economic operators with legal requirements.

Full reaction:

Food safety requires equal application of the law for all. Our citizens need to know what they are eating and drinking and what they are paying for.

The controls that the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) is conducting in the milk and dairy products sector are part of its regular legal mandate to supervise the implementation of the Food Law and food safety standards. The same is true today at the company 'Vita'

These actions are carried out to verify compliance with production protocols, the degree of implementation of legal norms, licenses and authorizations, as well as the compliance of economic operators with legal requirements.

The sole purpose of these controls is to protect the public interest. They serve to ensure food safety, protect consumers, and ensure fair conditions for producers and processors who comply with the law.

The FVA exercises the same mandate in all segments of the food industry. Official controls are carried out on economic operators regardless of sector, size or market position, because the application of the law must be the same for everyone.

A reliable food control system builds consumer confidence, protects local production, and strengthens fair competition in the market. No one is above the law. /CNA
