Erion Veliaj under the guise of propaganda

The arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who has been in the cells of Durrës Prison for more than a year, has not stopped his ugly propaganda during all this time.

Veliaj has used propaganda for an aspect where he perhaps deserves an award, that of deceiving public opinion. These actions have occurred through materials produced and published by the media that hold Erion Veliaj accountable, who is facing 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, including passive corruption in 9 cases, laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense, failure to declare assets, abuse of office and bringing prohibited items into prison.

Attacks on prosecutors and justice institutions

From his cell, Veliaj has continued to publish posts on social media to comment on the criminal investigations and charges, through which he has not hesitated to attack individuals in the justice system. After his sensational arrest on February 10, 2025, Veliaj has repeatedly described the process against him as unfair, using strong language, only to portray himself as a victim of the justice system.

Production of "fake news"

In the news published by Veliaj's media, there have been many cases of events produced with false content. These events later turned out to be incorrect, as happened in November 2025 with some 'claims' about requests from International Institutions for meetings with Veliaj, which were nothing more than a fraud.

Veliaj's propaganda tactics

From the first day of his arrest, Veliaj launched a continuous and unstoppable media attack, continuing with the same tactic for more than a year. Veliaj has acted with propaganda in an abusive manner, a practice that he “magnificently” reinforces, especially when important trials or issues related to his legal process are approaching.

Erion Veliaj is presumed innocent until the court issues a ruling on his charges.

But Veliaj continues to face justice, having made a series of accusations, attacks, and various moves, evading justice and postponing court hearings.

 

Veliaj has never attempted to face justice to prove his innocence because he knows very well what is in the files and documents against him, unlike what he claims with his propaganda, which leads him nowhere, but only reiterates the fact that he is an arrested mayor, who has been in prison for more than a year with 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses./CNA
