The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, conducted an inspection at the "Tirana 3" electrical substation, where he closely followed the progress of works on one of the most important investments for the energy security of the capital.

The Minister described the project as a successful example of international cooperation in the energy sector. He emphasized that the new substation was built in an area where there was no such infrastructure before and includes three 110 kV transmission lines that connect to the Traktore, Selita and Farka substations.

According to Karakaci, this investment creates a ring connection with other substations in Tirana, significantly increasing the security and stability of electricity supply. He underlined that investments in transmission lines and interconnection projects, including the Albania-North Macedonia line, are nearing completion, with about 86% of the works carried out by the Albanian side.

It was a pleasure to be with representatives of the German Ministry, the German Embassy and representatives of KfW today, at the works and progress of this very important substation for the energy security of Tirana. We are at the Tirana 3 substation, which contains the construction works of the new substation, in a green area that has not had a substation before and with three 110kV lines that come out of here and connect to the Traktore substation, the Selita substation and the Farka substation.

This investment is very important for the energy security of Tirana as it creates a ring connection with other parts of Tirana's substations and is a very successful collaboration with KfW which in fact continues the very good investments and collaborations with the Transmission System Operator also regarding other interconnection lines, such as the one between Albania and North Macedonia, which from the Albanian side is about 86% of the completed works. We also have other projects with this important German bank related to the digitalization of the OST, but also to the ring part of Tirana regarding transmission lines. With this bank, also, a very important element again for the energy security of Tirana we have the construction of the new Kamza substation which again gives a very large security of supply to the city of Tirana.

Why is this investment important?! All the investments that we are making for the city of Tirana, since the city of Tirana is the city that has the largest construction and investment rhythm and we must definitely respond with energy security and a very high quality of supply. It is enough to touch here on some very important investments that we are making in Tirana, such as the Center substation, which will be a new underground substation, in the city center. The Zogu i Zi substation. We have a new substation in Kinostudio and also the investment that the Transmission System Operator is making, regarding the Tirana 1 line, Zogu i Zi and all other investments in Transmission and Distribution.

All these investments are very important, as we return the city of Tirana to a very high level of energy security, reduce losses, but also minimize any downtime, defects or any type of inconvenience that we may create for citizens.

All these investments are in line with all the investments we are making in Albania, in terms of not only reducing losses, but investments in tourist and coastal areas, starting from the Adriatic coast to the Ionian coast, but also important investments we are making in the Albanian Alps and in every city where we have had problems in the past.
