Former Socialist MP announces candidacy for Vlora Municipality

Former Socialist MP Arben Malaj has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming local elections for the leadership of the Municipality of Vlora.

During a television interview, he announced that the decision to run is now final, although according to him there are obstacles related to campaign financing rules for candidates outside political parties.

Malaj argued this step as a personal responsibility towards the city of Vlora, emphasizing the early connection he has with the political and public life of the city.

He recalled that he was a candidate for mayor since the early 1990s and then a member of parliament, as well as having held important positions in the government.

Referring to a previous race as an independent, he underlined that he has managed to secure considerable support from citizens, which according to him shows the trust that exists in alternatives outside of traditional parties.

In the end, Malaj expressed his intention to make his experience and knowledge available to the city, with the aim of contributing to the development and improvement of life in Vlora./ CNA
