Rama to 'Kathimerini': The informal economy in Albania is in balance,

Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on several important issues during an interview with the well-known Greek media outlet 'Kathimerini'.

Asked about the informal economy, Rama emphasized that after 35 years, it can be considered part of the historical phase of changes in the country and that it is in balance with the formal economy.

According to the head of government, the effects of the formalization of the economy are being reflected in state revenues.

“The informal economy is part of the historical phase of transformative changes in Albania. 35 years have passed, but this is not enough to leave behind many of the challenges that arose from the lack of experience, state institutions, democratic tradition and the rule of law. We are building and changing every day. We have significantly improved the balance between the formal economy and the informal economy and this is clearly reflected in state revenues, which continue to grow without a corresponding increase in taxes. This means that a larger part of the economy is coming to light and tax collection is becoming more sustainable. We also use technology, including artificial intelligence, and this will continue to improve”, said Rama. /CNA
