Rama: Food security in Albania, a complex challenge of the accession process

Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that food security in the country is one of the most difficult challenges Albania faces in the process of joining the European Union.

In his speech during the meeting with food business operators, Rama stated that the implementation of policies in this field and inspection are steps that are reflected in the health of Albanians.

According to the head of government, this challenge should not be seen as a chain on the feet of citizens, but as an element that will serve the country.

"This meeting has a special importance, it is part of the processes that our country is developing, of the negotiations and the objective to join the European Union within this decade. This is because it is related to the most difficult and complex challenge of all membership processes, that of food safety. We need the implementation of policies and inspections, which otherwise, in their absence, create major problems that ultimately reflect on health and well-being. Therefore, European standards are challenges that must be overcome, they are not chains on our feet, but wings that lift us higher", declared Rama./CNA
