Doubts about Jet Bank's licensing/Këlliçi demands an

Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi, in today's interpellation about the digital bank Jet Bank, said that standards for online banks are not whims, but defensive walls against financial collapse.

Këlliçi said that Albania has proven that it has no capacity to withstand cyberattacks, as digital banks demand.

In the interpellation, Këlliçi stated that he is seeking full and reasoned answers from the Prime Minister to several questions raised regarding Jet Bank.

Këlliçi raised questions about the deposited capital and the verification carried out, and demanded the immediate review of Jet Bank's licensing as well as its suspension until the conclusion of parliamentary investigations.

"In European countries, digital banks are founded by professionals and with institutional capital. Anonymous investors, not as in the case of Jet Bank. Standards are not whims, but protective walls against money laundering and financial collapse. Albania has proven that it has no protective capacity against cyber attacks as digital banks require. Licensing a digital bank outside the standards could jeopardize the integration process. It is no coincidence that this license is being granted at record rates and with zero transparency. I demand complete and reasoned written answers from the prime minister.

On what basis was the license granted? Why did the Bank of Albania not suspend the licensing procedure after the change in the shareholding structure? What are the results? Where does the 11 million euros of deposited capital come from and how was the verification carried out?

Why have the connections of Jet Bank executives with Olive Hememer not been investigated? Documented connections with German documents. What role did the honorary consul of Albania in Israel play? What protective measures have been put in place to protect the savings of citizens who will deposit them in Jet Bank? Why have 4 official layers submitted to the Bank of Albania still remained unanswered?

"I demand the immediate review of Jet Bank's licensing. The establishment of a parliamentary commission to investigate the violations. The immediate suspension of the license until the conclusion of the parliamentary investigation. The public notification of Albanian citizens on the identified risks ," said Këlliçi./CNA
