Trump: China has agreed not to send weapons to Iran

US President Donald Trump has announced that China has agreed not to send weapons to Iran. In a post on “Social Truth”, the president also said that China is happy about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

"China is very happy that I am opening the Strait of Hormuz permanently. I am doing this for them - and for the world. This situation will never happen again. They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran. President Xi will give me a big hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly and very well! Isn't that better than fighting??? BUT DON'T FORGET, we are very good at fighting, if necessary - much better than anyone else!!!" Trump's post reads.

On Tuesday, China said the US naval blockade of Iranian ports could undermine the ceasefire. Until the US blockade, Chinese ships had been among the few able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman also said at a press conference on Tuesday that reports that China was preparing to send new air defense systems to Iran were "completely fabricated." /CNA
